Interior Designer Jane Gorman was approached by her clients to provide soft furnishings for their family home. The style of the home was elegant Art Deco. Jane’s clients had a design vision of incorporating elements of modern contemporary to offset the existing elegant Art Deco elements throughout the spaces.
The kitchen needed renovating with new bench tops and cabinetry along with a butlers pantry. Due to the limited natural light within the space, Jane incorporated a lighter stone in the kitchen bench tops. This opened the kitchen up and subconsciously made it feel larger than what it is. Keeping the colours neutral in the kitchen. allowed Jane to design and install customised window furnishings. These are a highlight of the kitchen and add elegance to this Art Deco design.
Throughout the elegant Art Deco property, Jane Gorman incorporated the use of mirrors. This design technique opens up the space and creates more depth. For clients that have a limited space in their properties it is an affordable way to increase the rooms within the property. Jane provided several mirrors for her clients which were hand picked and designed around the modern contemporary style. Jane’s clients were wanting to integrate the two styles and Jane was able to provide this subtly. The elegant Art Deco window furnishings throughout the property highlighted the original context of the property whilst also blending in and matching with a contemporary colour scheme.
This project was completed within the client’s budget and on time.
