Alfresco Area and Outdoor Kitchen

Alfresco Area and Outdoor Kitchen

Design Your Perfect Alfresco Area and Outdoor Kitchen

The alfresco area and outdoor kitchen is a very popular and valuable addition to the home. It allow for us to relax in a protected environment. Furthermore, it provides the opportunity for a second kitchen and dining area. Our lives these days are so busy that we become time poor.  Therefore, my clients are not looking to design and decorate a formal dining area. An alfresco area and outdoor kitchen provides as a wonderful way to entertain our family and friends at home without the pressure of feeling that we have to entertain on a grand and formal scale.

My advice is to incorporate your new alfresco area and outdoor kitchen when building or renovating the existing family room. Some home designs do allow for a simple add on extension to the back of the house. This usually incorporates the redesign of the existing garden area which can add value to your home.

Interior Design Advice for Summer – Motorised Blinds!

Adding blinds to your alfresco area and outdoor kitchen increases the value of your property. Furthermore, if the budget allows it, ensure your blinds are motorised. When you install your blinds it allows you to ensure the space is weatherproof all year round. Many of us who live in Melbourne experience all four seasons in one day. Therefore, blinds do become a necessity. Adding blinds also means this opens up the opportunity to add heating and cooling.

When I am designing outdoor kitchens there are several design features that I can incorporate into the design. This can range from a simple BBQ and bar fridge to the more elaborate. These include a range hood, oven, pizza ovens, dishwasher, a full size fridge/freezer, outdoor fireplace and a wall mounted TV. The most popular form of bench top material to be used in these areas is granite. Another popular finish is having the bench rendered or tiled.

Most people choose to incorporate a dining table in their alfresco area’s. If the space allows for it then this area can also be set up as another family room. This would quite often have an outdoor rug over the timber deck or tiled area plus a sofa, chairs, coffee table, side table and ottomans. There is an amazing range of outdoor rugs and furniture available from many suppliers that I deal with.

Fabric suppliers have also got on board with the outdoor areas. They now produce a fantastic range of bright and colourful weather proof fabrics. When working with clients who want this level of customisation of chair and sofa cushions, sun lounge cushions, outdoor ottomans and scatter cushions we are able to deliver a unique and fun environment that is reflective of how they want to use the space.

Summer is fast approaching and we all look forward to relaxing with family and friends. Therefore, contact myself so I can work with you to design and deliver a wonderful and valuable addition to your home.
